Codies bringing V8 Supercars to DS

DS News | With a customisable twist.
The majestic Mario Kart DS aside, there's no disputing that the DS lacks a top-drawer racer, particularly at the more "serious" end of the driving game spectrum. Enter V8 Supercars 3: Create & Race (to be known as Race Driver: Create & Race outside Australasia), Codemaster's latest contribution to its popular racing series.

Designed from the ground up for the DS, the game sports 32 real-world circuits (Silverstone, the Nürburgring and Bathurst are all represented) and 25 officially licensed cars, including the Koenig GT, the AMG Mercedes C Klasse DTM, and the Chevrolet Silverado Truck.

As the title suggests, track construction plays a considerable role in the game, with an extensive course editor included, allowing players to design their tracks on the touch screen with the DS stylus. Neat, eh? There's also going to be online play and ad hoc multiplayer races for up to four players.

You'll find the official Aussie site here, and the first screenshots here. It's not too far off, either - Codies is currently aiming for a summer release (or winter for those in the bottom bit of the globe).

I'll consider getting this because the online sounds fun. A video would be good because i dont believe the screens do justice. I just hope it doesnt turn out like Burnout DS

FANTASTIC! I have much love for Codemasters and their work. Brings me back to the Micro Machines days on the Megadrive. My favourite by far was Micromachines '96 which featured the create a track element. Pure bliss!
