Sim City DS confirmed

DS News | For PAL regions.
An EA press release has confirmed that Sim City DS will be coming to PAL regions, including Australia and Europe. Sim City marks the debut for the franchise on the Nintendo DS. Using the DS' microphone, players will be able to put out fires and use the touch screen to sign documents as mayor. The game will also utilise the Wi-Fi capabilities of the handheld, but we're not sure exactly how yet.

"We are very excited to bring the SimCity experience to the Nintendo DS platform," said Takahiro Murakami, producer of the game. "The unique Nintendo DS functionalities inspired us to incorporate many new features to delight the most dedicated SimCity fans. The game is filled with fun surprises that will appeal to new and existing fans of the franchise."

This seems like it would work as a touch screen would really help as an adequete replacement for a mouse

If it does (work well), I think it would be time to see what other PC suited games would fit

Can you imagine a Starcraft port with Wi-Fi?
Lemmings?
Leisure Suit Larry?

^ Don't forget that PC suited games are coming to the DS, such as Theme Park and The Settlers.

I know that the touch screen would be good for it, but the two examples in the article seemed gimmicky and a bit pointless (maybe not the fire fighting, but deffinately signing).

Hope it isn't too full of this sort of thing.

Sim City is definately a game that can be executed well on the DS. Touch controls would work a little better than the mouse controls. I am not a fan of the blowing of the microphone usages for this game and they seem like a bit of a gimmick. Unfortunately they seem to be included with several games and make them feel awarkward.

The screens for the game also look rather good. This could be another game Nintendo could market under thier Touch Generations brand.
