Kirby DS gets subtitled

DS News | Screenies included.
There are reports circulating that the latest Kirby game for the DS has been subtitled. The report originated from the Nintendo Power magazine and it states that the pink-puff's next adventure will be called Kirby: Squeak Squad. Unfortunately, there was no information concerning a release but we do have some information concerning an interesting gameplay tidbit.

As we have reported, this latest Kirby adventure will revert back to the traditional platformer format. The action will take take place on the top DS screen and on the touch screen, you'll be able to see all of the powers that Kirby has swallowed. Using the touch screen, you can mix and match certain powers together to form new ones. This can be seen in the screenshots, that can be accessed through our media panel.

We'll bring you more information as it becomes available.

I hate it when they're obviously struggling to make use of the touch screen... icon_neutral.gif

Does it really matter if it only uses the touch screen in a small way?

No, but I mean it's sad that there aren't many games which really make proper use of all the DS has to offer. Most can be split up into graphics (Nanostray, this Kirby, Bleach DS) or touch (Ouendan, ... All my other games are graphics ones), rather than both. Exceptions being things like Trauma Center and Nintendogs.

If the game can stand on it's own and plays well, I don't really mind if it just uses the D-Pad and action buttons (as long as it hasn't been ported from the GBA).

^ That's fine by me as well, but it's just so obvious when they chuck in some weak touch screen feature just to say they make use of it, like changing weapons in Nanostray or changing that map in MKDS.

^ you can change the map?

I tend to agree I think mixing is tedious and really pointless, to me it has no appeal. They should only use the screen if it fits in with the game not just for the sake that it's there.
