E3 2006: First Mario vs. DK pictures

DS News | More Mario.
As mentioned during Nintendo's E3 press conference, Nintendo have concocted a DS version of the Game Boy Advance title, Mario vs. DK. The touch screen obviously brings some new features to the series, mainly being used to manipulate the mini-Marios on the screen. There's also a new level editor, for custom action.

...And that's about the extent of what we know. Sigh. Of course, we've got some tantalising screens for you in the media panel.

I watched the trailer to this over at IGN - looks VERY cool if you liked the original MvsDK on the GBA.

I SO wanted a sequel to MvsDK on the DS, and here it is!

Better clear this up before I get flamed. I'm someone who love Donkey Kong 94 on gameboy and really disappointed in Mario vs Donkey Kong on GBA.

1) Putting Mario's name in front of Donkey Kong on a c;assic Donkey Kong game is a failure.

2) Using touch screen on a classic Donkey Kong game? Another failure. (Touch screen on mini game is ok, but should not be on main game)

3) In GBA version, the way mario moves has been altered from the classic GB version. One more failure (I hope this version fix the problem)

4) Based on the screen shots. It looks too smilar to GBA version, another failure.

Why do those things constitute "failures"...?

If all the Nintendo games were simply recreations of the previous game in the series without adding new things like title changes, new control techniques and new moves, well then... we wouln't have ANY of the Nintendo games we have today.

Come on, you can't say a game is a "failure" because the main character has new moves... that would make every Zelda games since the first one a failure, as well as every new Metroid game...

See what I'm saying?

Sure MvsDK wasn't the all-time greatest game ever, but I liked it (still do) and a sequel in which they use the basic concept and develop on it by way of new gameplay and so on is a good thing.

You've got some serious gaps in logic there k1dcharm. You can't just claim something is a failure because you don't like it. calling the name a failure? Huh?

I preferred DK 94 as well, but the only thing I didn't like about MvDK was the graphics, they were a bit too pastel.
