Pre E3 2006: SNK vs Capcom Card Fighters DS announced

DS News | Classic Neo Geo Pocket game finally gets a sequel.
The Neo Geo Pocket never got the sales the Game Boy did, but just like it's home console big brother, it has some rabid fans. And one of the most popular games on the little handheld was SNK vs. Capcom Card Fighters Clash, a deep card battling game that just happened to feature all the superstars of the SNK and Capcom fighting universes. Well, SNK Playmore will soon unleash a long awaited sequel, SNK vs. Capcom Card Fighters DS, and we've got a bunch of new screens to prove it.

SNK vs. Capcom Card Fighters DS will feature over 300 cards to play in a strategic card-fighting engine. Along with the classic modes, SNK Playmore has promised a storyline and RPG elements this time. The screenshots seem to show an isometric RPG playing field with what appears to be super-deformed characters, but it's hard to tell if SD versions of our favourite fighting heroes will appear in the game field, or just feature on the cards. So far the only known character shown is the gravity defying Blue Mary, but we're sure Mai, Terry and co will appear to face off against Ryu and Dhalsim.

Check out the Media Panel for the screens. Hopefully we'll see more of this eagerly awaited game at E3!

The original was pretty cool, it's a shame to see that the original characters look like they're from digimon or something icon_sad.gif
