Pre E3 2006: Buena Vista announces original DS title

DS News | In a Pokèmon-like RPG.
Buena Vista Games has today announced that they are working on Spectrobes, an anime-inspired action/role playing game that is being developed by Jupiter Corporation (Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories).

Gamers assume the role of one of two junior Interplanetary Patrol officers named Rallen and Jeena who learn of the prehistoric creatures called Spectrobes. Once freed from their fossil prisons, the Spectrobe creatures can be trained, evolved and used in battle against ‘The Krawl’, a vicious force that threatens to destroy the galaxy. There are a total of 500 Spectrobes to collect.

Buena Vista Games are interested in taking the franchise to other avenues such as media networks, online and consumer products.

Expect more information next week.
