In Protrait of Ruin, players will take control of two characters: a vampire hunter called Jonathan Morris (it's not yet clear if he is related to John Morris from Castlevania: The New Generation), and Charlotte Orlean, young girl with magic powers. Obviously, their job will be to stop the baddies from resurrecting Dracula. However, the game will be set in the 1940's (re. World War II), so we speculated as to who is behind this latest resurrection... Actually, the story is that there are a heck of a lot of misguided souls about the place and a pair of vampire sisters are ushering the souls into rebuilding the castle.
Anywho, the game remains a 2-D platformer. Players will be able to switch between Jonathan and Charlotte on the fly to suit the puzzle or situation. Both will have summons that they can rely on, as well as conventional weaponry/magic. If the Nintendo Power cover is anything to go by, it looks like the game will be keeping the Anime style of Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow.
Earlier this week, we reported that a load of Konami titles were revealed but Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin is the only one that has been confirmed and is scheduled for a November release. Hopefully the Australian distributer will send a few more copies this time round. We'll bring you more as it becomes available to us.
