Zelda heading for DS

DS News | First Zelda game exclusively for the DS in development.

During his GDC keynote, Nintendo head Satoru Iwata revealed that a brand new Zelda game is in the pipeline for the Nintendo DS. Entitled The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, the title is set to take a leaf from the book of New Super Mario Bros. by featuring 3D graphics within a 2D perspective. The game will be the first Zelda title designed exclusively for the DS handheld.

And, uh, that really is all we have right now we're afraid, though we'd be mightily surprised if we didn't see more of this at E3 in May. As always, keep your cursors pointed this way.

No I would like to play both. Big Zelda Fan Also along with Mario And Final Fantasy. I think both would be great.

I read, I get excited. I see trailer, I start frothing at mouth. And did I hear something about it being released this year? I'm loving the touch screen stuff so far.

Hot! The windwaker style fits the DS better I think. Looks like Nintendo has done something decent with the DS doodads again, I can't wait!

I'm not gunna go into the whole cel-shaded look is good/bad debate, but i was hoping for something a lil less cartoony and more n64 zelda like on the ds.

Slightly dissapointed.I'm just spoilt.

I was disipointed in WindWaker To childish graffics. They should of made windwaker in Twilight Princess graffics and better story line.

I agree with Jibb's, i expected a bit more N64 esk gameplay & graphics...... but that aside, this game looks pretty good, i hope it lives up to the Zelda standard

This game looks fantastic - it's simply amazing what the DS can do if people apply effort. Plus, it looks like it might be the sequel to Wind Waker!

Oh, and the boat control looked really cool - plotting the course with the stylus on the map and then firing the cannon as the boat makes it's way there.

And I'm pretty certain the cel shaded look was chosen for how well the DS seems to be able to do it.

Now people, can you actually tell me something about why the graphics were bad other than they were "childish" for Wind Waker?
