Metroid Prime: Hunters - new screens

DS News | Forty lovely new shots.
Forty new shots of forthcoming Nintendo DS shoot-me-do Metroid Prime: Hunters have surfaced as the release of Samus' eagerly awaited title grows ever closer. Amongst the avalanche of screens we received today, there's shots of the wireless DS-to-DS mode, the title screen and menus, and screens of the online Wi-Fi mode in action.

Metroid Prime: Hunters is due to ship in the US on March 20th, and in Europe on May 5th. We're still waiting on a concrete release date for Oz, but we'll get back to you as soon as we know.

Beautiful. For a machine that apparently can't do 3D, this stuff is astounding.

Btw, the official prime huntes website has updated with heaps of footage. God damn I want this game.

Looks pretty goodfrom those screens. What do you mean by "apparently can't do 3D"? It certainly can, look at Mario 64 DS! Or Nintendogs!

Oh, I know it can. It just seems some people think if you want good 3D, the only option is the PSP.

I still reckon overall the graphics on the DS compare equally and on parl with anything on the PSP. Mario Kart or Castlevania are awesome quality. The PSP looks like an ugly PS2 running at 1/2 mask.

It's pretty much the N64 vs PS 1.5 and we can all remember the PS never actually reproduced a game in the same vain as SM64.

Have you seen these?

I really can't see the DS doing that. I'm not saying that DS graphics are crap, they look great (in motion), but they are definitely not on par with the PSP. I think the only thing that makes the PSP graphical quality suffer is the framerate of some of its games. The DS however is silky smooth. On all the games that matter anyway.

I think those daxter shots aren't that flash if you look at the images closey. And I do believe that game will run at well below 30 fps.

Give me a locked framerate at 60 fps over 30 with a bit of gloss anyday. Adds so much to the graphics IMO.

Haha... if that is the case, PS1.5 is definite better looking than N64. You may like that game on DS better, that's fine. However graphic wise, PSP is definitely better (you have to be blind to not see the difference).

If that's what I think it is... Holy shit that is amazing. Quite possibly the single greatest gaming collectible I have ever seen, and I'm not even that much of a Metroid fan.

it's a laser generated, crystal Samus.

they were made for the First Hunt Dev team when the DS launched, and that one was given away as a prize in some draw.

i got the pic from Penny Arcade, apparently someone they know won it (Robert?).

ultimate collectible indeed.

EDIT: cheers for the info Plufim (next post).

Robert Khoo is Penny Arcade's lawyer, and also runs other key parts of their busness. Yeah, that thing looks amazing.
