DS Lite and Revolution image leaks

DS News | Still not final, but closer.
With the DS Lite only weeks away and the Revolution apparently only months away, we were starting to get worried about not having seen a real version of either yet. However, we've managed to get our hands on some leaked images of both Nintendo's upcoming consoles. And although it's a bit naughty to see what Nintendo never meant us to, curiosity never killed anything, did it? Except the cat.

First up, the DS Lite. While it's due out in Japan in March, we still only had a Photoshop jobbie to go by when sizing it up. Well, not anymore.

These images are still clearly not final - cheap looking plastics are common for NFPs (Non Functioning Prototypes), and there are other hints, such as the serial number sticker on the top and the non-final model information info on the bottom (why does it say 'slot 2' three times?). The fact it looks a little grubby also shows these are not official 'glamour' shots.

Next up - the Revolution. Some scans of what appear to be internal documents show the side and back of some fruity coloured consoles, as well as a series of prototype controllers.

Nothing too earth-shattering - but we can at least guess at what each of the ports on the back are for. And be glad that they chose the controller shape that they did...

We're sure to get our hands on more pictures of each soon - we'll keep you informed!

Yeah, that plastic makes the DS-L look incredibly ugly.

That's a pretty sweet version of the DS though. As for Rev nothing special there. Nice colours!

Is the black thing on the underside the mysterious hiding power button?

Seeing the Revolution's candy colours again made me think, 'Wow those look really Retro.' It seems as if Nintendo are really pushing the Retro idea of the Revolution.

Maybe so, but Nintendo's recent consoles are fairly well know for their colour. GC came out in uite a few colours after a while, and GBA had a good range. DS is starting on that path, but there's not much variety yet. Colours don't have to mean retro you know, it can be stylish. I'd like a green one!

It's the colours they picked though. Candy red, lime green, they're the kind of stuff people the 70s? thought stuff would look like in 2000 and beyond. I'm not dissing Nintendo, just making an observation icon_smile.gif

Some of those controllers look like they were dug up with some dinosaur fossils.

Yeah right, very funny. I think the style looks like it would fit your hand well.

Check out this link. There's heaps of variety for DS systems already, but very few are available to us here in Oz. Some are also celebrity exclusives. Nintendo always have the largest variety in system colours though.

Wow, I like the look of some of those! Especially the Japanese ones. It would be good if they were available here, but no such luck. icon_sad.gif

I think the DS will look better in real life. When I first saw the micro gameboy on the net I thought it looked crap. But in real life it looked quite cool. Just hope there is a black version

Neat job theory, haha seeing those make my Remember that special Aussie Green version of the Gameboy Colour, (Any Aussie here have it?)

That black Bowser DS has my name written all over it...

Is it just me or do those rev controllers look a little like... uh, inappropriate.

I guess that's Nintendo's way of getting girls back into gaming. I could see that working...

Let me take this opportunity to apologize to everyone who read that.

Hmmm...
The power port seems to have changed... (*hopes that connects to PC via USB*)

EDIT:
IGN wrote
The DS Lite will ditch the Game Boy Advance SP and Nintendo DS AC adapter port for the more compact Game Boy Micro AC adapter port.

Here we go, the 3 colours of the DS lite (straight jacked from another Aussie gaming website):

Crystal White

Ice Blue

Enamel Navy

So it looks like enamel navy wins by default.

I'm actually a big fan of the white, but yeah navy looks better than ice. I don't like the name 'enamel' though - sounds like some sort of toothpaste.

Oh my god that Enamel Navy colour is hot. Well it's not hot hot but it's hot, if that makes sense. That is definitely the colour I am getting. icon_biggrin.gif (gee, I wonder why)
