Lost Magic finds Western release

DS News | DS Wi-Fi enabled RPG heading to PAL territory.
Ubisoft strikes again. First with the announcement of Dragon Quest VIII enetering the PAL region, then the upcoming distribution of the Resident Evil 4, Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening Special Edition and Onimusha 3: Demon Siege PC ports across western countries and now they are bringing the DS’s first online RPG, Lost Magic, to America and Europe.

The game will utilise the touch screen to cast magic spells and using a symbol system, players can mix three single spells and produce up to 350 different magical combinations. The main thrill, of course is being able to duel your friends over Nintendo’s Wi-Fi connection. Exactly what online elements the game possess is unannounced at this stage, except that there will be a “Duelling” mode where you can challenge a friend in spell casting and the like. The first screenshots, accompanying this announcement are available to view in the media panel.

Lost Magic should see a release on the 30th of March for Australia - no confirmed European date yet.

Speaking of which (prolly the most relevant topic to put this in without making one for it), anyone who currently uses the wifi service for Mario Kart DS might like to know this (I say that 'cause I don't know if this is a problem on Tony Hawks/Animal Crossing/etc.). We've all complained at some point about the stupidly long waiting times for searches on that game, blaming possible rushedness (I'm allowed to make up words) by Nintendo - do not worry, they've streamlined it to the max. Me and Hyper played some wifi Bleach DS last night, and every single friends search (admittedly bar one, but that was due to a problem with my wifi adapter), was pretty much near instant, i.e. Hyper'd be waiting in search, I'd press the start button to enter the searc myself and within two seconds it'd match us.

Just thought you might like to know it seems they've improved it now. icon_smile.gif

As for opinions on the game, meh. I've had loads of chances to import it and haven't, so I'm obviously not interested no matter where it's released.
