Electroplankton to get European release

DS News | Yes!
One of the most quirky DS 'games' is, without a doubt, Electroplantkon. It's hard to really call it a game, as there aren't any levels, objectives or bad guys. So just what the hell is it, then? Simply put, Electroplankton is an experimental music creation device which uses the touchscreen and microphone, allowing you to make some oddly captivating tunes.

For a more detailed look, you can read our review of the Japanese game here.

So, why are we telling you this? Nintendo have just announced that the game WILL see a European release, specifically on the 21st of April. We're excited, and you should be too.

I still want the Japanese version with the Electroplankton headphones and nice packaging. Apparently the game is very import friendly with minimal text in the manual. Regardless, it's great that they are giving PAL regions some of the more experimental/creative games.

Now... where's Ouendan and Phoenix Wright?

I don't see how anyone could even consider buying this "game" with titles like Ouendan and Daigasso out, especially at that RRP.

How about people who are both musicians and gamers, such as myself?
It makes a lot of sense to me.

Right, I'm sure musicians would rather sample the ever so mature delights of Electroplankton than Daigasso, the music composition game. icon_rolleyes.gif

I imported Electroplankton a while back, and i wouldn't call it a game for musicians. It's a game for people who like simplicity and musical ambience. Just being a musician doesn't mean you'll like it - most of my friends who've tried it (some of them musicians themselves) have given me weird looks and then asked why the hell I 'wasted' fifty bucks on it.

You'll appreciate this game if you'd consider yourself a creative person, in any medium, and if you can keep an open mind about what videogames should be. Personally, I love it, and if you think you'll like it then I recommend importing the Japanese version instead of getting the English version. There is basically no language barrier (except for the detailed booklet, but the booklet actually tells you what to do with each plankton and it really is more fun to work it out for yourself), you get awesome packaging and of course some Nintendo branded headphones.

And while you're at it import Ouendan. That game rocks.

That's not what I said. All I've done is just given an example of one group of people who may be more inclined to purchase this.

You're all crazy.

Now are there any actual musicians with an opinion? icon_razz.gif

I'm a musician myself. And I'm sure you'll like Electroplankton from the way you're arguing about it. I'm just trying to give you some more information about the game so you don't spend good money on it and end up hating it.
