Australian NintendoWiFi site launches

DS News | Finally.
Nintendo Australia have launched NintendoWiFi.com.au. Australians have been waiting months for the site to launch. It is essentially a carbon copy of the American site, except with different hotspot locations and with no forums. Fortunately it is on a seperate server to the American site, so loads significantly faster for broadband users.

There is no feature to link your Nintendo DS to your Australian profile, which means it isn't possible to see individual stats, only overall statistics. Hopefully this feature will be implemented in the future, but currently we're not particularly optimistic.

The Wi-Fi service officially launched in Australia alongside Tony Hawk's American Sk8land and Mario Kart DS. Since then Animal Crossing has been released, and March will see the release of Tetris DS and Metroid Prime Hunters. We'll have more on the Wi-Fi service as soon as it becomes available.

Hey, that "who's online" list could be handy for hooking up with friends.

NSW needs hotspots that -aren't- in EBs. Who's going to hang around inside an EB playing DS? -_-

icon_eek.gif We waited 3 months and all we got a scaled down version of the US site! Forums would be good, but I can do with out them, but having no place to register your friends codes and stats blows hard.

It's more like a face lift compared to an actual launch.
