First Australian WiFi spot active

DS News | One out of fifteen so far.
If you visit this site, you'll be able to find the fifteen Australian locations planned to have Nintendo WiFi access by the end of the month. For the moment, the action is pretty quiet with only one site up and running in Victoria.

In all, there are 26 planned sites to be built in conjunction with retail stores. For whatever reason, Nintendo Australia have refrained from utilising McDonald's, unlike their US counterparts. It was never unreasonable to expect the locations to be centred around major cities, but given PALGN's demographic alone, a few groups are missing out. These being pretty much anyone from the outer or rural areas, anywhere from mid to northern parts of Queensland, the eastern suburbs of Sydney, the west of Melbourne as well as anyone in Tasmania and the Northern Territory.

Still, the fact that there actually will be some places to take our DS units and part take in online multiplayer is nothing to be scoffed at, especially now that Mario Kart DS is now available. For those that are unfortunate enough to miss out, we will be bringing you information on the WiFi dongle being sold by Nintendo shortly, not to mention our own review of Mario Kart DS.

I just visited the Games Toyworld at Brisbane City today.

The paperwork for the new hotspot is still in action with Nintendo. It will probably be a few more weeks. The guy at the counter wasn't sure of its capabilities and doesn't know what they're gonna do with more people coming in. I pointed out to him that the group of couches at the front door would serve a good dedicated space which he thought was pretty good.

As for the Chermside EB, there is nothing nearby, unless something upstairs would still work with the wifi radius.

Brisbanites will have to wait.

I just checked the nitendo wifi australia site. and guess what. NO F*****G TASMANIAN LOCATIONS! Once again we have been deemed too unimportant to be given a single wifi hotspot in our entire state. it is just rubbish.

WTH, all the suburbs in NSW are so far away from where I live...
What's wrong with one in the city? Or Parrmatta?

I would love it if they made one in Burwood though, since the food court is just right in fort of it.
Me and David live in the east, and there are big EB's in Eastgardens, Bondi and a massive on in pitt street mall and I haven't been to broadway but i heard it's not too miserly either.

Closest one i got is Ryde and thats an hour away.

It would be funny if they put one in centre point, because its a tiny Eb and being in the midst of food court is absolutely chockers most of the day.
Wait you guys live close to me... Why did it take me so long to find out this... (I'm in Blakehurst, about 20min from Eastgardens, 5min from Hurstville and 10min from Miranda).

Well I went to Campbelltown - MacArthur Square for a drive with parents, and got the Polarium Demo, although I didn't get an opportunity to play online.

Oh wtf. I checked that site a week ago and the Games Toyworld was removed from QLD. Now it's actually back up, and also indicates a 'green dot', meaning its up and running.
