Pokémon Mysterious Dungeon screenshots emerge

DS News | First screenshots from the upcoming RPG for the Game Boy Advance and the DS.
It seems that Nintendo had a few surprises under their hats at their annual Pokémon event held in Japan recently. Pokémon Mysterious Dungeon, the upcoming RPG title that will be released on the Game Boy Advance and the DS, was revealed in video form at the event, and those lucky enough to be at the event were able to grab a glimpse at the upcoming Pokémon titles based on the hit RPG series.

In Pokémon Mysterious Dungeon, it seems that gamers will be able to play as their favourite Pokémon characters, though at this stage we aren’t exactly sure what you’ll be tasked with doing. Obviously, from the two platform choices, it appears that gamers will be able to interact with both games once in your DS cartridge slots.

Not much else is known about the titles at this stage, but the RPG is due for a release in 2006 in Japan and a PAL release is expected thereafter. In the meantime, be sure to checkout the screen captures from the event in Japan.

Can anybody do a translation of the Jap Subtitles? I've always wondered what a pokemon would say if they could speak. Not really, but I'm still curious.

Looks to me like a generic Action-RPG but played using Pokémon. Actually from those screenshots it looks a lot like Marheaven: Knockin' on Heaven's Door

Well do keep in mind that pokemon(according to the anime AND games) can only speak their own name or variations of their name.

Pikachu-Pika Pika, pik pikachu!

Ahem.

Keeping this in mind-i think we are all in store for some extensive and deep dialogue, with many a plot turn!

1: CHARIZARD sent out OVERHEAT!
2: The GRAVELER STONE faced NIDORAN♂ and flew at it! 20 damage to NIDORAN♂!
6: TORCHIC ate an explosive seed - 35 damage to SWINUB!
7: CHIKORITA gained 100 EXP.points - CHIKORITA sent out RAZOR LEAF! 22 damage to <something i can't see =(>!
8: [Charmander] (Th--this place... .)
(in brackets because the game is "translating" the Pokémon-speak for you, I guess icon_kero.gif)
The last shot is the only one with any kind of actual dialogue so far, then... icon_lol.gif

The game looks interesting but I'd be quite surprised if I ended up buying it... we'll see. icon_kero.gif

Thanks for the translation. "Th--this place".. stupid charmander...

So those are battle screens? Looks like a unique battle system is used (for a pokemon game), sort of like Chrono Trigger maybe? Why am I so interested in this? I haven't played a pokemon game since red and blue. I'll still be keeping an eye on this...

Meh-you didnt much much.Personally-Gold and silver were the pinnacle of the series.Ruby/Saphire/Emerald were quit a let down i reckon.Firered and leafgreen were good......though its obvious why.

The 3rd generation of 'new' pokemon are stupid i reckon. The first and second gens were cool but the third are just gay-so uninspired and unoriginal.
