Battle of Prince of Persia exclusive to the DS

DS News | But it isn't what you expect.
Ubisoft have dropped a little bit of a surprise today, announcing that Prince of Persia will see an exclusive title being released on the Nintendo DS, titled Battle of Prince of Persia.

As soon as we saw the press release we immediately thought of a 2D Prince of Persia that was just as good as its predecessors. However, our surprise soon turned to shock when we realised that Battle of Prince of Persia will be a turn-based card game.

The game will take place between The Sands of Time and Warrior Within. It will focus on the appearance of the Dahaka and how the prince, while trying to rid himself of the terrible creature, ignites a conflict between Persia and India.

Players won't only assume the role of the Prince, but will also take the perspective of several generals who hold key roles in the conflict. Players advance in the single player mode by collecting and trading cards. Money is collected and new cards can be purchased with this money. There are also a total of nine generals, plus the prince, that players can assume the role of. The game will also feature a multiplayer mode.

Whilst we do admit to being a little surprised and sceptical as to how this game will turn out, the DS does seem like the best platform to have a card-based action game on, so we're keeping an open mind on this title.

Ubisoft have also sent us the first five images of the title in action, and we must admit that these definitely show promise. Check out the media panel, and, as always, we'll keep you posted.
