At the launch of the machine Nintendo were hoping to ship 5 million units to stores by March 31st. This was later revised to 6 million - an objective they have obviously met, given they have sold through 5 million.
Nintendogs was recently released in Japan and it sold over 182,000 units in its first four days. Not only that, but DS sales have jumped dramatically, outselling all other consoles combined last week. The DS has now sold 2,171,906 units in Japan alone.
Sony's new portable PSP platform, which launched only 10 days after the DS in Japan, has so far sold 1,230,128 units in that country, and 1,805,128 worldwide. It launches in PAL territories in September.
