Pokemon Battle Competition coming to Melbourne

DS News | Gotta win them all?
Nintendo Australia has sent word through that aspiring Pokemon trainers can battle it out against the best in the state in a competition to take place in Melbourne on Thursday 14th July. Players of the recent Pokemon Black and White Nintendo DS games will be in the running for several prizes and the title of ultimate Pokemon Champion.

The competition will be held at the Nintendo Experience above EB Games, 67 Swanston Street in the Melbourne CBD, on Thursday 14th July between 10am and 5pm. Registration will commence at 10am, with the competition kicking off at 11am. Registration will allow for one entry per person, with the final competition breakdown depending on the number of participants. Players will be able to enter 4 Unova Pokemon in a Double Battle via the C-Gear Infrared Connection in Pokemon Black and White.

The winner of the competition on the day will win a Nintendo DSi XL and a Nintendo DS game, and the runner-up will win two Nintendo DS games. Third and fourth place runner-ups will receive a Nintendo DS game each. For information on the Tournament Rules or to view the Terms and Conditions, please click here.

What the hell man! "Hi kids, enter a competition to win something you more than likely already have!." I used to work at Ninty in Scoresby, man they've gone downhill. If they really wanted to make something out of this:

1). Offer an exclusive pokemon download available only to registered entrants.

2). Offer new tech as a prize, eg a 3DS, not just what is left in the marketing department's sample draw.

3). Make it a part of a larger event, eg Melbourne winner goes on to compete with other states in a national comp. (Yes G J Flame, that includes Perth too!)

Nintendo in Aus need to take a good long look at themselves if they think their current arrangement constitutes a decent event.

Their competitions are rubbish, btw.

I've heard it's very difficult to win them?
