Rumour: Ace Attorney movie in development?

DS Rumour | It'll be interesting to see what they do with the hair.
A quote found in a recent interview in The Huffington Post could mean that fans of the courtroom adventure game Ace Attorney series should be looking forward to seeing a certain spiky haired lawyer the silver screen in the near future.

The director of Japanese films 13 Assassins and Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai, Takashi Miike, is quoted near the end of the article about his next project, saying, "It is a very light comedy that I am filming now, a court drama, based on a video game, the Nintendo game DS."

As the Ace Attorney series is the most famous (and perhaps only?) courtroom drama game on the Nintendo DS, it seems likely that Miike is indeed talking about a film adaptation of the much-loved series.

In addition, several images apparently from the set of the film have been posted by a user on Court Records, a fan site for Ace Attorney. You can check out these images in the media panel below.

Unfortunately there are no other details available at present, but stay tuned for any further updates on the project, or an official confirmation on whether the film is actually about Ace Attorney and Phoenix Wright.

Bwah?! If this is for real... *scratches head

I'd watch it just to see how they adapt it. The Ace Attorney games are too kooky for real life adaptations. :\

Or is it?

Miike did an adaptation of Ryu ga Gotoku/Yakuza for the big screen a while back. It is (so far) my favourite video game movie and he did a great job of it, so I have complete faith in him, no matter what this movie ends up being.

It's in good hands.
