According to Svensson in the Q&A, "The answer is 'no.' Sorry about that."
Siliconera was able to get Svensson to elucidate on the statement, saying that "Regarding the question, plans change all the time so I would probably rather use the 'There are no plans for a Western release at the time of AAI2'."
A post on Capcom's forums last week from Svensson further clarifies the decision. "The costs of localisation are higher than the forecasted return. And no, it wouldn't sell more than Okamiden (which has already sold more than the first Investigations)," writes Svensson.
"Could this content show up on some other platform somewhere down the line? Possibly, but there's nothing on that front for me to talk about. I realise there are fans who would like to have this and I'll be sure to explore ways that could happen viably in the future with our strategy and R&D teams but no promises."
While this leaves the possibility of a localisation of Ace Attorney Investigations 2 open for the future, for now it seems English-speaking Ace Attorney fans have only the crossover Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright to look forward to, assuming that of course receives an English translation.
