Hmmm. So close to 3DS release. Man, I'm gonna be poor that month.

So what's new/better in this new addition to the series?

I've not played one through since Red/Blue (which I quite enjoyed) and wondering if it's worth another look. The last couple (Silver?) I've tried have felt identical.

Diamond and Pearl were fantastic.

Grim you are thinking of HeartGold and SoulSilver. They were remakes of the 2nd generation of Pokemon games. Black and White will be the 5th generation. More and more stuff is added in every game. The battles are more complex. Looking at red and blue and comparing it to the newest ones there is so much different like abilities, natures, proper ev/iv's, breeding, day/night cycle, and more.

My brother came back from japan and got me Pokemon Black.

Whilst I have no idea what people are saying (and I have to use a guide to navigate my way through the game) I still know the basic controls.

I have this to say about this game: Anyone who used to play Red and Blue: get this game. Anyone who has every Pokemon game: Get this game.

@grim-one The one major difference from this game to previous follow ups from Red and Blue is that until you complete the game, you will not be able to see or capture any of the older pokemon. What does this mean? NO MORE **** MAGIKARP AND ZUBAT'S!!!

Furthermore, the battle scenes feel a lot more realistic (to a degree) if you ever played Pokemon Stadium, it wouldn't be too far from that, the pokemon are constantly moving, when a pokemon is asleep they actually look asleep, and there's a camera moving around the battlefield focusing on whose turn it is, and who does what attack to whom. Also, though it is a minor change, it makes pokemon battles that extra bit more enjoyable: no more alarms ringing over the battle music, when your pokemon goes into the red, the battle music changes to a more thrilling alarm type music... combine all this together and the major element of pokemon gameplay is actually much more engaging than any other previous version of Pokemon.

My only quip about the game is that it feels incomplete, I thought if it waited a few more months and became a 3DS release title it would look and feel a lot better. However, I still think it's a bloody brilliant Pokemon game that gets my two thumbs up!

Part of the fun was always deducing in Japanese that Team Rocket were up to no good and you needed to go to a nearby mountain/cave/ominous building....

Plus the trading is reworked, so it's faster and I think you can trade, while not in a pokemon centre.
I miss Team Rocket, there is two main things I want back in pokemon games.

Team Rocket, that's kinda like Jesse, James and Meowth as in they act like rivals (show up more often) with an evil yet quirky personality.
To be able to travel back to previous regions, It'd make the world huge and encourage so much exploration.

No more alarm sound? Hooray, always bugged me over the great music.

Also, 3 way battles.
