Another Final Fantasy title for the Nintendo DS

DS News | Will there ever be a final Final Fantasy?
Square Enix has announced a new Final Fantasy game for the Nintendo DS that will be coming to Australia.

Titled The 4 Heroes of Light, the game is about a young boy named Brandt who is sent to rescue a princess from the Witch of the North. It was revealed for Japan almost a year ago.

The game has received a battle menu overhaul and now has a simple touchscreen system, meaning that players can focus more on the action rather than on complex menus. The game will also allow players to easily change classes and abilities with the new Crown System, leading to a wide array of strategic options.

Furthermore, the game is planned to feature a multiplayer mode which lets up to four players team up to traverse dungeons and to collect Battle Points which, after being traded for rare items, can be used in the single-player storyline.

Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light is slated for release in Australia and New Zealand in Spring, 2010.

And will retail for about $65 at 90% of retailers for about 6 months in all probability.

And is it just me or does some bloke rescuing a tart from an evil witch just sound like someone opened a book of fairy-tales and thought "hang on... what if we meshed all these together? I smell money!"

I do like the multiplayer aspect though, but it'd probably be like most others in how it's handled and that's really meh to me for some reason.

Also depends on how many friends have the game that will depend on how good the multi-player function is

If the multiplayer is anything like the recent DS Final Fantasy Cyrystal Chronicles game then it will be fun, online multiplayer in that game was a blast icon_smile.gif

While this game seems like an old-school update in every sense, I'm really not as excited as I once was for anything FF. The game will have to be exceptional in some way in order for me to want to buy it, and at the moment, the game hasn't really proven itself to me in any way. It looks like a rehash of some of the FF titles already available for the DS, except with a new magic system that abolishes MP.

I played the Japanese version and loved it. The battle system is simple yet fun and the graphics and worlds are big and detailed. I wanna play it again in English tho cause I think I missed something in the story but I'm definitely buying this one, might even pre-order depending on how money goes icon_biggrin.gif

Well, that's good to hear you enjoyed it!

Would you say it's better than a few of the other core FFs? I know they're all hard to compare them, but try your best. icon_wink.gif

I really don't think I will be buying this, at least for a while. It's not as if I'm hurting for games now, and possibly (probably) won't be hurting for games when it is released, too.

I think it is as they say, back to roots. Felt like I was playing something really old but more polished. If like any other FF game, it sorta reminded me of FFIII on DS but more oddly of Golden Sun on GBA for some reason... I'm not sure why but it did icon_razz.gif

I really liked it either way, the random turn based battles made me sing with joy icon_biggrin.gif *I know I'm weird... icon_razz.gif*
