New Okami for the DS

DS News | Makes a lot of sense, actually.
Several days ago it emerged that Capcom had put a trademark on the title 'Okamiden', which led to much speculation over whether that meant a new Okami game was on the way, especially given that Okami is soon to have its Wii release in Japan (a port other territories received quite a while ago).

There was more fuel added to the fire when it was learned that the next issue of Famitsu would contain details on Okamiden, which more or less confirmed that it would be a new Okami game.

Well, the Famitsu scan is now out, confirming that Capcom will be bringing a new Okami game to the Nintendo DS, titled, it would seem, Okamiden, or The Legend of Okami. It would be fair to expect lots of stylus/paintbrush action, pretty visuals and long sequences of text coming our way sometime next year.

Disappointing. I was hoping for a PS3/360 sequel, the game's art style would look stunning in HD.
Excellent news. I still need to get around to finishing the original on PS2.

And were you going to fund the development?

It's great that this is happening! A little skeptical at how this will turn out, seeing as the original developers aren't involved (CLOVER studios - now Platinum games).

Looking forward to it anyway!

In my own way, by buying the game. That's a silly question.

It’s not, really. High production games on the Xbox360/PS3 are expensive to make. Okami bombed on the leading platform of the time, so much so nobody even expected a new release. It was never going to be on the Xbox360/PS3 and it was silly to expect it.

HAHAHA! YES! icon_smile.gif
GO OKAMI!
GO OKAMI!!!!
GO OKAMI!!!!!!!!!!

#Please everyone tell your friends about it! Okami was an outstanding game but unfortunately its sales were a massive flop (despite being released for PS2 AND Wii), so much so that the developer 'Clover' Studios shut down 2 years ago. icon_cry.gif

#Hopefully, at least 1 million out the 50 million NDS'es out there will buy this game (just 2 in every 100 people). PLEASE BUY THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Because its not right that 3rd party shovelware can sell up to a 1,000,000 units because of ignorant mums who don't know any better, buying it as a substitute to childcare supervision for their kiddies.....while a technical, innovative masterpiece like Okami agonisingly struggles to barely break even! icon_cry.gif icon_cry.gif

#The biggest insult: "Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing" for Pc, widely regarded as one of the WORST VIDEO GAMES OF ALL TIME sold 200,000 COPIES! That's DOUBLE what Okami sold on BOTH ps2 and wii console! icon_cry.gif icon_cry.gif icon_cry.gif

Okami - Review Score for PS2 version: averaging 93/100 over 69 professional gaming review sites and publications (Wii version 90/100 over 44 reviews)

Big Rigs - Review Score for PC: averaging 3.83/100 over 8 reviews. icon_redface.gif

PLEASE BUY AND SUPPORT THIS GAME! YOU WON'T REGRET GUARANTEED. icon_biggrin.gif icon_wink.gif icon_surprised.gif

Looks like someone had a bit too much red cordial...

I do enjoy your enthusiasm though.

Personally I'd have much preferred it for 360 or PS3 but the DS will have to do.

Also for those saying stuff like "Would you fund it?" I purchased both a PS2 copy AND Wii copy of the original Okami. I would like to think that doing something like that actually IS contributing towards funding a sequel.
