Chrono Trigger DS PAL release date revealed

DS News | February's going to be epic.
Square Enix has issued a press release revealing the long awaited DS remake of Chrono Trigger will be released across PAL regions on the 6th of February.

The original Chrono Trigger was released on the SNES in 1995, but sadly never made its way to PAL territories. In the game, players assume the role of Crono and must travel through time to rescue his companion. Later, Crono discovers that there's an evil force threatening humanity, so he sets out to put a stop to it. The remake apparently retains the same classic gameplay of the original, but has been presented across both screens and given touch screen controls. There's also a brand new dungeon to explore and wireless communications functionality.

We'll have more information on Chrono Trigger DS as it becomes available. In the meantime, you can marvel at some new screenshots in the media panel below.

Question: Does this mean in anyway that Chrono Cross will be re-released through the PSN store or on PSP??

Given that Chrono Cross isn't mentioned or anything even hinted outside of Chrono Trigger for DS, I'd say that would be a no.

Or instead of waiting for February you can buy a copy from Japan, and if the language on your DS is set to English it automatically picks up on this and changes all text to english. That's right the complete english translation is already in the Japanese version.

And apparently (haven't gotten this far yet) Chrono Trigger has a new ending/extra areas with story that ties into Chrono Cross. So maybe just maybe a Chrono Cross re-release is on the cards somewhere?

Hey since it's never been released in PAL territories.. it's eligible for GOTY 2009 icon_wink.gif Which it will be. You'll see.

Hope this has the poster like the NTSC version.

Good news. I already have the game, but good news nonetheless. This is the greatest RPG of all time imo and more people need to play it!!

Ok I know it's all about some cabal of lawyers slapping each other on the back and swapping briefcases of money, but doesn't it seem weird that they're talking about PAL and NTSC releases for a handheld device that doesn't actually come in PAL or NTSC versions?

I almost want to buy the PAL version as well because it's so awesome. But that would be too hardcore....
