EA announce an all new Sims title

DS News | "In the jungle, the mighty jungle..."
It may not come as a surprise to many, but Electronic Arts has today announced that the enormously popular Sims franchise will get a completely new IP, to be called SimAnimals, which will be an exclusive title for release on the Nintendo Wii and DS platforms.

While The Sims universe has taken on the world of furry creatures before with its Pets expansions, this title will see players be able to control wild animals in their natural habitat where players will be 'challenged to engage, touch, move and try to control a wide range of animals as you journey deeper and deeper into the forest'.

Rod Humble, the studio head for The Sims Label explains that “SimAnimals opens up a new world of creativity with wild animal adventure, fun and mischief. For the first time in an animal game, you can reach out and touch, engage and play with a huge cast of wild animals in their natural surroundings. SimAnimals offers an immersive and tactile experience using the Wii remote and the Nintendo DS stylus that allows you to easily and intuitively become part of the wood’s expressive, quirky and sometimes surprising narrative. Classic story-telling about wild animals comes to life in SimAnimals.”

The game is currently attached to a January 2009 release date.

I'm still waiting for Sim Homeless and Sim Accountant to come out. One so I can play out my dream, and one to play out my current life.

So you're currently homeless and want to be an accountant?

I've occasionaly had fun with the Sims, but I think EA are starting to milk the franchise for all it's worth (if it wasn't already with all the pointless 'expansion' packs). I'll definately be giving this a miss.

i'm sure that the 'animals' will be ridiculously low detail polygons which is trying to copy nintendogs

I think they are using the term 'all new' a bit loosely.

I think he is an accountant and wants to be homeless, judging by the order of Homeless and Accountant in relation to My dream and My current life.

I read about this game a little while ago. Apparently the animals can have sex, which is a bit wrong.
