Next Tony Hawk game DS exclusive

DS News | Console versions coming in 2009.
Activision has revealed that the next Tony Hawk game will be DS exclusive. Last year EA's newcomer Skate was significantly better than Tony Hawk's Proving Ground and it seems Activision were quite aware of this.

"We're reinventing Tony Hawk from the ground up," Activision Publishing president and CEO Mike Griffith said during an earnings call. Griffith said that there are two separate Tony Hawk developments underway, the first will be a Nintendo DS exclusive that will be released this year. The game will "utilize new technology not yet seen on the DS." The second game will launch next year and this title will have two years in development to deliver the kind of breakthrough that the franchise needs," Griffith said.

"For competitive reasons, we're not going to talk about it today, but we're very bullish on the kind of innovation this will bring. This won't be your father's Tony Hawk."

Thanks to mipac for the heads up.

i just get this feeling that when the new TH comes out on the consoles its going to have that "i swear this has been done somewhere else" feeling, and you wont have far to look in order to see where it was done...oooohhh skate did this already..

to me skate is by far and away the best sk8 (see that) game to date, i used to skate a fair bit and it truely gives you a good feeling when you pull off certain moves...

$5 says it's a similar skate. control scheme except using the DS Touchscreen instead.

Seriously, if this is called Revolutionising the series, then Neversoft/Vicarious/Activision clearly fails.

Good that they are going to take the next iteration seriously and not just bang it out in 12 months like they have with the last couple.

And the best part about it is:

History has proven the DS version will be infinitely more enjoyable than the console version.
