Arkanoid DS and Space Invaders Extreme coming to PAL territories

DS News | Re-live the good old days.
Square Enix have announced today, via a press release, that Arkanoid DS for the Nintendo DS, and Space Invaders Extreme for the Nintendo DS and PSP, will be coming to PAL territories this Summer (or Winter for Australian residence).

Arkanoid DS is based on the original 1986 Arkanoid game, which required players to destroy all the blocks on their field. This new entry in the series includes a Clear mode where you must clear 140 levels, and a Quest mode that gives you different sets of rules for clearing each round. Points earned in the game can also be used to unlock new backgrounds, blocks and sound effects, while both old and new power-up items will randomly appear to mix things up a bit. Additionally, the game will support competitive multiplayer for up to 4-players, as well as high score table which can be accessed via Nintendo’s Wi-Fi Connection service. As an additional option, the game can be played using a Paddle Controller, which is used to give you analogue control just like the old coin-op versions.

The second game, Space Invaders Extreme, revives the original arcade classic by adding new formations, power-ups and a techno soundtrack. Additionally, sound effects are synchronised to match the beats of the music, while players can compete against each other via local wireless play and online. The PSP version will also feature exclusive tracks by acclaimed musicians and DJs such as Sugiurumn, Wall Five, DJ Aki, Atom & Masaki Sakamoto, and Altz.

I imported Arkanoid at the end of last year and I must say that paddle controller is awesome. It's nicely weighted so that it turns really easy. I'd love it if more old-style games supported it.
