Rondo of Swords announced for the DS

DS News | First screens inside.
Atlus has announced today that it will be bringing a new RPG to the Nintendo DS called Rondo of Swords.

In Rondo of Swords, the King of Bretwalde has died unexpectedly, leaving his kingdom in distress. As Bretwalde mourns, the evil Grand Meir Empire launches a surprise attack, crushing Bretwalde’s army and taking the capital city of Egvard. Now the kingdom’s fate lies with Spanta, the sacred blade. Players must break the curse bestowed on the blade, to restore honour and peace to Bretwalde.

According to Atlus, the game will have a Momentum Counter which will allow you to gain stat bonuses and control who your enemies target during battle. There will also be an errand system that will help you level up your character, as well as an option to send party members out on their own to gain new skills and level up. Additionally, players will be able to fully customise their skills, opting to purchase new abilities, or strengthen what they already have. Finally, Atlus also mentioned that there are several storylines and endings, which will change depending on the player’s actions.

Rondo of Swords is expected to be released in America this April. At this stage, a PAL release date is still pending, but we’ll let you know once more information becomes available. The first screenshots of the game can be viewed in the media panel.
