The game will have a water colour look and all graphics in the game are hand drawn. Gamers will be able to have four party members with them at a time, with a total of eleven party members planned for inclusion in the game. Seven party members are currently known: Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Rouge, Shadow and Big The Cat. Each party member will have unique abilities; Tails, for example, will be able to float over things.
The game will be controlled entirely with the stylus and it will be possible to split your party into teams at certain points. There are no random battles in the game and it will be possible to see enemies on the field, with battles being turn based. Rings will still be important in the game and will be used as currency.
The game will pick up after Sonic defeated Eggman two years ago. Sonic gets a call from Tails that Knuckles has been kidnapped by a group called the Marauders and that six chaos emeralds are missing. However, it has been revealed that Eggman isn't the main villain in the game and apparently gamers are to expect some sort of twist between Eggman and Sonic that links back to previous titles.
Finally, the game will pick up in "standard" Sonic areas and will move to a darker world. The soundtrack will also contain entirely remixed classic tunes and there will also be fully animated cut scenes in the game.
