Nintendo 3DS add-on to be named the "Circle Pad Pro"

3DS News | Prepare for a little extra 'padding.'
You remember that not so tiny addition Nintendo announced a little while back for its struggling 3DS handheld? Well it seems as though this device now has a name, at least that’s the news from the grapevine via Capcom’s Tsukasa Takenaka.

According to the Resident Evil: Revelations assistant producer, the second analogue stick will be deemed the “Circle Pad Pro.” It’s an apt title and for the first time in a while, is one that actually makes sense. Takenaka believes it was a “no brainer" to support the pad after learning about its existence, claiming “When we decided that we thought, we have to do it fully, we have to create a whole other control scheme based just around this peripheral."

Takenaka might claim the Circle Pad "the right way to play," but only time will tell as to whether the add-on helps reinvigorate interest into the 3DS or whether it’s all simply too late. Some of us might be buying it, but will you?

Something that doesn't sound like a tampon?

I'll grab it for my PAl console and then grab the inevitable redesign as a US version to get exclusives (damn region locking)

But Nintendo love their crotch-related hardware names!

Even Apple had a go at it. The name iPad still makes me laugh. icon_lol.gif

As 'awesome' as circle pad pro&quo would be, it's just pro, so yeah, must be a fuc* up.

But I'll go out on a limb and say that for once, I actually don't mind it. Sure it might not roll off the tongue, but you know what it's to the point, and doesn't try to palm itself of as a title with some extra metaphorically 'deep' meaning.

A thumbstick add on?

Circle Pad just sounds like something that's been directly translated from japanese and lost the finesse in the process. It sounds awkward.

Also sorry but I don't see how it could possibly reinvigorate the 3DS. How is making you need to buy an add on to play games propperly going to be better for the thing?

It just seems like really the wrong way to go with this. Everything about the 3DS seems to be a **** up from Nintendo wich is kind of weird cause they'd been doing pretty **** solid. I think they've massivley missjudged the market here though.
