Included in the update are two services; an internet browser and the eShop. The former will allow users to browse the web on the 3DS, while the latter gives access to a variety of software and applications to be purchased and played. Separated into several categories, gamers can look forward to classic GameBoy titles, 3DS specific titles, and classic titles enhanced with 3D visuals and features.
The previously announced Pokédex 3D will be available at launch, along with a host of classic GameBoy titles to purchase, including Super Mario Land, Alleyway and Tennis.
To celebrate the update, Nintendo will be offering a 3D classic version of Excitebike for free to all users to access the store before 7 July 2011.
As said, the Nintendo 3DS eShop will be available to update on 7 June 2011, with plans to update the eShop content and services every Thursday after.
