Dream Trigger 3D announcement trailer and details

3DS News | What a fine trip.
Publisher Namco Bandai has detailed the latest game in the highly anticipated Nintendo 3DS's lineup, Dream Trigger.

Dream Trigger, an original title that features arcade-style, shoot 'em up gameplay but with a twist - players will be required to use the in-game sonar to detect sound and enemies in order to destroy them, forming 3D patterns. Gamers will go through over 50 stages that feature colourful, yet minimalist graphics that are further complemented by the interesting new perspective the 3DS hardware will offer. To further add to the experience, Dream Trigger will feature a musical score that will change depending on how they play.

Yoji Takenaka, President of the North American publisher D3P, had this to say about the title; “Dream Trigger 3D perfectly captures the system’s graphical strengths and combines it with stellar arcade shooter gameplay that new owners of the Nintendo 3DS handheld system will not be able to put down.”

We've linked the announcement trailer below, but suffice to say it does not capture the 3D effects of the gameplay. Expect to hear more about this title in the future, and look forward to reading our review of the game when it comes out in the near future.

I had hoped that 'Dream' somehow meant 'Chrono'

Wow. That does not do any justice to the game at all. It looks terrible in 2D. Hopefully that fact won't hurt it when people look at the 2D video and go "That's shit" before trying the 3D.

Looked good to me - has a very 'Rez' vibe going on. Keen!

I get the feeling this was a DS title held over for the new console, but that's not a complaint. Looks really nice visually, certainly Rez like. I'm interested to see how accurate the sonar will be and whether the difficulty curve is too high or not (most shooters like this I kinda struggle with.)

Are we going to go back to having all games subtitles as "Whatever the name is: 3D!" now? Cause... I could really live without this.

Honestly this looks kind of average, it seems more like just a normal flat dual stick shooter being played over the top of trippy 3D backgrounds them something like Res were you were actually going through and changing the backgrounds based on the noise.

But then I'm a little wary of games who's trailers have that much flash that isn't actually from the game.
