almost looks exactly the same as the original version

This is the only reason I want a 3DS.....But these pictures look preeeeetty similar to the original, so I'll wait a bit until it and the 3DS are both cheap.

They are similar, mainly because they haven't changed most of the scenery models and world geometry. Will they change them? Probably not, although I'd expect more scenery models to be upgraded in the final. Change it too much, and the feel of the game changes.

I do like the new Link model, though. It feels the same, but with major poly upgrades.

^ Agreed. I can't think of another game I actually want on the system atm.

I'll wait for the inevitable 3DSlite. Upgraded graphics look real nice.

There ain't gonna be a 3DSLite, but a 3DSXL might be on the cards. It's basically as small as a DSi anyway, you can't make it smaller.

I'm assuming you read this from an Iwata ask column?

That's just Nintendo saying, 'trust us', there will be no 3DS lite! SO MAKE SURE YOU BUY THIS ONE!

Then 3DS sales start to slow: Surprise guys, we were only kidding, here's a 3DSlite with better battery life, it's extra, extra compact and sleek! icon_biggrin.gif Now give us your 350bucks!

Who knows though, I could be totally wrong.

Well, I'll expect a redesign at some point, just nowhere near as soon as the DSLite from DS Phat. It's just that the current hardware's only real downside is that some people don't like the design and the battery life is lower than what people were hoping for, so it doesn't need an upgrade so soon. I could be wrong, too, though, so feel free to rub it in my face when the 3DS Premium comes out in year or whatever.

There will be a redesign, and while it might not be 'lite', it will be sexier, have a better battery and I wouldn't be surprised to see something like an improved camera or touch screen either.

It certainly looks significantly better than the original, but Nintendo are being pretty conservative with this remake, in the sense that they're pretty much just one-upping the asset quality as opposed to really overhauling it. I would have preferred they actually spent time rebuilding environments with the new hardware in mind, but whatever.

I am still hoping they would take a leaf out of the remakes of Pokemon Gold and Silver. Those remakes were fantastic as it was 85% like the original, and the 15% difference made the game fresh, but still nostalgic, and still just as awesome as the original!

Though even if it is a 100% copypasta, I will still be happy. I never tire of playing that game every year or s icon_smile.gif

Hopefully they've fixed Hyrule Castle Town so it's no longer a pre-rendered blurry mess.

All pre-rendered scenes from the original are now 3D. They need to be for the 3D display to work.
