Super Street Fighter IV 3DS to feature mysterious collaboration

3DS News | Who, or what, could it be?
It would appear that Team Ninja's Dead or Alive: Dimensions isn't the only 3DS game to feature some kind of cross franchise collaboration.

Reported by Andriasang, Super Street Fighter IV 3DS assistant producer Tomoaki Ayano revealed on the official Super Street Fighter IV blog that the launch title will feature some kind of collaboration with another franchise.

A new character? What about a new stage? Or better yet, what franchise and from whom? Sadly, Anayo would reveal no more, but instead promised that more would be announced on the January 26.

Why not hazard a guess in our comments section?

Maybe someone at Capcom saw that clip from a while back showing those Street Fighter CAWs in Smackdown vs Raw, and they want to return the favour by putting in a WWE wrestler icon_wink.gif

Gonna go out on a limb here and say 'not' a nintendo franchise, but a Capcom franchise. So, let's say MegaMan.

They just posted a big interview discussion thing about why Megaman isn't suited to be in a fighting game as a reason he's not in MVC3, if they then wacked him in SF4 I would be pissed icon_razz.gif

Apparently the details will be posted on "a certain game's official site". How many 3DS games have official sites? Could it be Jill or Chris from Resident Evil: Revelations?
I'd say Chris over Jill, his fighting style from MVC 3 would fit in SF4 pretty decently, were as Jills MVC 2 fighting style deffintly wouldn't, and she's supposed to be absolutely insane speed wise in MVC 3.

I am going out on a limb maybe a Rival Schools character but ahhh well who knows... haha it would bring back memories to play as that kid with the baseball!

I doubt it, there are heaps of legal issues with them using the rival schools charecters from what I remember. They tried to get the old games released on XBLA and PSN but couldn't cause the rights are split between two different companies similar to SF:EX

... man capcom needs better lawyers.

That said I would fucking kill for Rival Schools to be in it. Although I doubt it would be Edge or Akira.

I am pretty sure they could Benza i just read it was a sound issue:

Quote
"There are IP clearances and rights we no longer have (particularly pertaining to voicework/soundtrack I believe) so our IP management group has told us it can't be re-released," said Capcom's Christian Svensson, in response to a user's forum question about the game (via Destructoid). "I'm sorry as it's one of the ones I really wanted to see be put back up. So if you still have that PS1 Rival Schools disc in your collection, it's unfortunately going to be the only way that gets played for the foreseeable future."

So basically if they re hire the voices thats all they would need i assume? haha it would take me back to play as that baseball kid icon_biggrin.gif

I was just reading the comics yesterday, massive nostalgia.

I suppose Batsu was in Tatsukono wasn't he? So that makes sense. Hope they can get around the licencing issues. Would love to see someone get a representatvive in it.

God damm it now I want a next gen Rival Schools, I loved that game.

Either either. I was thinking more from an asset reuse position rather than literal gameplay. Capcom would have the models of both Chris and Jill ready from MvC3, and since they've done a good job downscaling the SSFIV models they could probably quickly do the same. I was thinking Jill because of Revelations, but Chris is in that too as far as I'm aware, and there's Mercenaries as well.

I'm going to lean towards Resident Evil because its a Capcom brand and the assets already exist, which would make for less work. Otherwise I'll go with something Nintendo related, kind of like Metroid in DOA. I dont know what Nintendo IP would fit in Street Fighter though.

Get in queue man i have been waiting a long time for a next gen rival schools game. Tho if there is a couple of characters in this game its probably the best we will get imho...

Has that ever mattered? Halo didn't fit into DoA, Yoda/Darthvader sure as fuck didn't fit into Soul Calibur. I reckon with the push he's getting from the new game Pit would be a good inclusion, especially now we've seen that they're willing to add in air dash characters with smurf akuma in arcade edition.

On the asset reuse thing, from what I've heard it's really fucking hard to convince the internal teams at Capcom to even let people use eachother characters let alone sharing assets. (There were some capcom guys talking about it in relation to MvC 3 saying that it took a lot of effort to convince the DMC team to let em use Dante and it's been a pretty big struggle for each character bar the street fighter ones)

So yeah while it would make sense especially since Chris's move set looks like it would adapt pretty decently to Street Fighter as a keep away character I have my doubts on it.

That and I kind of hope for something differnt cause that'd be boring.

True that.

Though if any Nintendo IP could fit I'm thinking it would be Captain Falcon.

Oh shit completley forgot about him, that would be fucking awesome, hell just change his B moves from smash bros to QCF + P/K and slow him down a bit and you're basically done.

Damm it now I want Captain Falcon in it.

put link in and watch the game sell much much more just like soul calibur 2. You know you want to capcom

You're all thinking too grand in my opinion. The most likely thing would be STARS uniforms as ALT costumes for Guile and Cammy if you buy both games, or something like that.
Well, that was a let down. Turns out the big announcement of Ryu and Chun-Li costumes in Monster Hunter Frontier Online. Nothing really to do with the 3DS version of SSFIV at all. (source)
