3DS to launch on November 20?

3DS Rumour | Arriving sooner than expected?
Rumours suggest that the highly anticipated new handheld from Nintendo, the 3DS, could launch as soon as November 20 in Japan.

The potential leak has come in the form of a tweet by Japanese KeysFactory employee, Takahiro Amano. KeysFactory is a Japanese video game peripheral and accessory manufacturer that plans on releasing a variety of accessories for the 3DS.

Amano tweeted "On November 20, eleven 3DS products that we designed will go on sale all at once. People who are buying the 3DS, buy it at the same time!" and also provided a link to the companies home page.

The users account was deleted shortly after making the post, adding to the speculation that this was a genuine leak and Nintendo have taken swift action to suppress it.

If tradition holds true, we may be able to get our dirty mitts on the 3DS very soon. Both the Nintendo DS and the Wii had near-simultaneous worldwide launches, so hopefully the 3DS will follow suit.

heh, I just heard about this this morning as well! 20th November sounds reasonable, but I'm still gonna take it as a rumor until Ninty confirms it.

Wow! Hope it is true! I wonder what the price is going to be though..

I might be wrong, but I think it was always Nintendo's intention to release the 3DS in Japan in 2010, but it probably won't be seen outside until around March or April.

I agree. I don't think we, as in Aussies, will see it until March.

Not long to go until we find out when - officially.

We dont, but this is Nintendo, so its best to assume it wont be.

Well, it *is* Mario's 25th birthday. It'd be a good way to celebrate it.

I'm super excited about the 3DS so I'll be grabbing one and a few games in Nov via the net regardless of region free or not.

Nope, only the content from the DSiWare store is. I have faith that the 3DS will follow in the DS's footsteps and be region free for physical games.

The download content on DSi is, and certain games that use DSi specific technology (pokemon black and white, I think).

hmm so they are. looks like no chance of 3DS not being reigon locked then.

Nintendo will lock down this baby 1000%. DS games no, they will be still region free. 3DS games, locked all the way.

Nintendo are tough daddies!

While this is a concern for me, a bigger concern is the online structure for migrating from DSi accounts to 3DS.

Simple. They won't. You'll have to buy all your dsi stuff again.

This is Nintendo, they may be able to make games well but you know they're not going to do anything to make there customers lives easy.

So assuming this comes out in a similar time frame to the Wii and DS, it'll come out when I'm in Sydney...

Oh who the fuck am I kidding, if it's region locked I'm just importing from the US.

What gives you that impression? Nintendo fucked up majorly with the DSi's region locking; I really don't think they'll do it again. Or if they do, no region lock on cartridges anyway.
