Sonic CD zooming onto a myriad of platforms this Summer

Mobile News | Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom...EDIT: Debut trailer.
Sega has announced that one of the most beloved Sonic games of the franchise, 1993's Sonic CD, will be released for a myriad of platforms this Summer. We'll list them in handy bullet-point format because there really are that many:

    * iOS systems
    * Xbox Live
    * PlayStation Network
    * PC digital download
    * Android
    * Windows Phone 7

For those unfamiliar, Sonic CD sees Dr Eggman up to his usual evil deeds, this time stealing the Time Stones from Little Planet. Sonic CD also sees the debut of a pair of iconic Sonic characters, Metal Sonic and Amy Rose.

"Ask any Sonic fan to name their favourite games, and Sonic CD always ranks near the top of their lists," said Haruki Satomi, Vice President of Digital Business at SEGA. "Sonic CD marks an important chapter in Sonic’s history, bridging the gap between his oldest adventures and his new digital exploits like Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode I. We’ve made sure the re-mastered edition has everything that Sonic fans want to see with all of the original colourful classic zones."

Naturally, being a digitised relaunch, this version of Sonic CD will come packed with new features such as enhanced graphics, achievements and trophies.

Are you excited for the next coming of Sonic CD? Let us know in the comments. Also, check out the debut trailer below.

I tried playing Sonic CD once, right after playing Sonic 3 + Sonic and Knuckles. Sonic CD felt like a step backwards to me honestly.

I really liked Metal Sonic and Amy Rose. Metal Sonic should of remained as the main rival to Sonic along with Knuckles.

Shadow is a bit annoying, not terrible, but not as great as the above two.

HO-LY POONUGGETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes. Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes. Enuogh blabbering. Love this game, I've always found it way more fun and a little more deep than the numbered Sonic's. Especially the soundtrack (which I hope they use the PAL soundtrack and not the other one, Major difference being no Sonic Boom on the non-PAL one)

Call me one excited muffin for this game.

Maybe because Sonic CD came out before Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles.

I wonder if this Youtube video got Sega thinking?

Personally, I hope they don't screw this up like their other Sonic 'ports' which I've read are an emulated mess with poor controls.
