GameBoy Micro launches in September

GBA News | The 13th...in Japan at least.
Nintendo has announced that the GameBoy Micro will be released in Japan on September 13th, 2005.

Interestingly, this date is two days before Sony is launching their 'limited edition' white PSP. It seems that even though Nintendo's other new handheld, the DS continues to outsell Sony's PSP by a ratio of 2:1, they see the GBA line as an important part of their fight for handheld dominance.

The GameBoy Micro is the latest incarnation of the GameBoy Advance. For those that like numbers - it's the third GameBoy Advance model, the seventh GameBoy model (including the Japan only GameBoy Light), and Nintendo's eighth handheld.

It will be launched alongside three new first party games - 20th Anniversary Mario Bros, Mario Tennis Advance and Dr Mario and Puzzle de Pon Double Pack.

No price has yet been announced.

^^ Presumably a port of the NES' Super Mario Bros. (I believe that was released in 1985) with some 'extras' thrown in to try and make it worth the effort. So, Nintendo repackaging their past. Again.

Prob just another release of the original Super Mario Bros with premium packaging. The Japanese love that stuff.

But this is the first news about it. It could be anything. Maybe a GBA book? Or a quiz game (another common japanese thing).
