E3 2005: Presenting the Gizmondo

GBA News | So whats this Gizmondo thing everyones talking about?
At E3 there is something that is attracting enormous attention, a new console from Tiger Telematics called the Gizmondo - you may have heard of it before. So how powerful is this new handheld?

The mobile gaming console has 400Mhz of processor power, a state of the art graphics chip from NVidia, a large high resolution TFT screen and the operating system is Windows CE. The Gizmondo has an eight-way D-Pad, left and right triggers and four face buttons.

Stop laughing at the back.

Also it has a built in camera, Windows music player, movie player and most other mobile phone features.
Some of the games currently in development are Conflict: Desert Storm 2, Fallen Kingdom and The Great Escape.

Tiger Telematics have confirmed the North American release date of its new multi-entertainment handheld will be the 11th August, 2005. So will this handheld achieve what the N-Gage didnt? We will have to wait and see as no Australian release date has been confirmed.

Right...

So, where does this thing stand when compared to the pre-existing 3D handheld systems?

Jealous are you? icon_razz.gif

Its got the potenial to be a good system but since it flopped, now no developers want to invest in it. Ashpalt, Tiger Woods, Spiderman - all of those DS games came from the N-Gage you know icon_razz.gif

^^ Lucky I didn't get any of them then icon_razz.gif I think the screen looks very small, especially compared to the PSP.

So...intead of A, B, Y X buttons and Cross, Circle Triangle Square buttons it's got...uhh...the 9 dots, button, and the two squiggly lines button..

Seriously, wtf?

Spider-Man is different on the DS.

Ugh N-Gage fanboy. Its such a terrible system, doesn't even have a decent screen size. So glad nobody developed for it. Heck mobile development is hardly big business so its not really suprising. Besides I don't know a single person who thinks they could do something unique on a phone, that they couldn't do elsewhere.

Gizmondo looks better than some claims to the throne. But with Sony and Nintendo in the field, who is going to look to an unknown outsider?

I like it actually, I will be folowing it closely...
