Four more NES classics headed to the GBA

GBA News | Metroid, Dr. Mario, Castlevania and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.
In addition to Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong, Ice Climber, Excitebike, The Legend of Zelda, Pac Man, Xevious and Bomberman comes four titles converted from the NES format to the Gameboy Advance.

The four games, admittedly put in the blurb to cheaply catch your attention, will be available across Europe from 7th January.

The NES conversions are now totalling the number of twelve, and complements the GBA SP 'Classic NES Edition', which was released in conjunction with the previous batch of NES transformations. The PALGN staff are unamimous in its opinion [Assumably -HS] that this gorgeously designed version of the GBA SP is not to missed by anyone who has experienced light shivering and nostalgic bursts of tears with the Famicom in their thoughts.

The games will retail for about £15 UKP or $35 AUD each, and will surely be a welcome change to the unstoppable range of sequels finding their way onto shelves this winter.

unstoppable range of sequels?

aren't these the games that inspired these sequels? icon_razz.gif

Yes, so it'll be refreshing to play the earlier games in these series.

Nevertheless, I don't quite see your point.

I must start buying these. Especially Dr. Mario, Ice Climber, Excitebike, Castlevania, and Donkey Kong.

I own all four, for the NES at least. Definitely worth the money they're going at at the moment, classic games at a reasonable price.

I don't see the point of Dr.Mario though. Anyone who has Wario Ware for the GBA or GC can get it free of charge but under a different name, Dr. Wario.

And if you already have Metroid Prime, you may as well buy Fusion and get the original for free.

I still think it would be better had they made a compilation cartridge instead of criminally milking 'classic' games.

Don't you think this way people can choose though? I'd hate to be stuck with Zelda II, Metriod, and others on the cart with just a few that I do like.

Noone would be forcing you to play them.

But it'd suck if the few games you wanted were bundled with others in compilations you didn't like, but had to pay for.

Ahhh Zelda II: The Adventure of Link now that brings back some memories, haven't played that in years.

And it would suck even more if you wanted all of them, but they retail for $30 Aussie each, with regular GBA games retailing for around $60. See what I'm getting at? Shocking value for money.

I agree with Cerebral... icon_kero.gif
A compilation cartridge would have been a better idea (maybe not profit-wise, but you know what I mean).

I'm too picky for compilations. icon_razz.gif

Don't forget the fact that Metroid Zero Mission also includes the original game in playable form. Much easier then owning both Metroid Prime and Fusion to obtain it. icon_wink.gif

Or, you could forget all of them and just buy Prime 2. icon_razz.gif

It would seem a compilation would suit you nicely, GT. You can't say that you would want these, but any other games would be a scourge upon a defiled cartridge, could you? icon_razz.gif

And yes, If Zero Mission has the original Metroid, then why in friggidy hell would you pay $30 for it other than for show (and honestly, there isn't much to show)? icon_eek.gif
