Donkey Konga revealed?

GCN News | Namco's Donkey Kong game for Gamecube revealed, but it's not what you think.
Late last week during Nintendo's press conference, it was revealed that Namco was working on a new game in the Donkey Kong franchise. Based on past efforts, we assumed that it'd probably be a new platformer.

We were wrong. In fact, the new Donkey Kong game is a music/rhythm game utilising a set of Congo Drums.

When the story was broken earlier today IGN mentioned that their sources told them that Donkey Konga would be a new title where DK and his friends join together to mess around with a set of Congo Drums.

The trademark for the game was registered on March 10th, which could mean that this game is a reality, and will be out for Christmas in Japan like Nintendo mentioned. Given the success of Namco's Tradition of a Drum (Engrish translation only, sorry) for the PS2 earlier this year, Donkey Konga could be exactly what the GameCube needs in Japan.

We'll have more news in the coming weeks.

If this is true, then why does Nintendo keep asking themselves why the GCN isn't selling?

Ask Sony why PS2 isn't selling after the release of the EyeToy.

God that's exactly what I thought. Nintendo are completely dumbarses. I swear they make all these new moves into their high selling franchises and think these 'new' moves will be for the best? It's like with the cel-shading graphics used for Zelda, sure the game was great and all but Nintendo really have to start viewing things from a public point of view, and finally take note of what the public wants in todays life.

I think if you asked 100 people who play games on which they would prefer, a cel-shaded Zelda or a rather half Realistic Zelda game i'm sure it'll be something like this:

60% Realistic 35% I don't care 5% Cel-shaded.

Honestly I really don't want to say this, but I'm really starting to loss all faith I ever had in Nintendo as a company now. They're just making all the wrong moves. I mean if they gave me a year to take control of Nintendo for a year I would obviously take the direction of what I believe the public in the modern world would love: blood, awesome real life graphics and dvd players added on etc. You have those and you are in for a running of being a great console. You look at what Nintendo have done and you can see Nintendo have done very little to show the world that Nintendo are presenting realistic games. For example in Australia Resident Evil and Eternal Darkness most likely Nintendo's two most realistics games released to this day and yet they did very very little to even ever advertise those two games to the public, yet they spent millions on advertising games like Mario Sunshine and Pikmin during the greatest Australian event, the A.F.L grand final. Why didn't Nintendo showcase a real game that would attact all people watching the t.v during that time? like Eternal Darkness, they would've made millions off that. To me I'm quite sure Nintendo of Australia aren't quite smart with the advertisement department.

Anyways that's my two cents icon_smile.gif I hoped you liked it too whoever bothered to even read it.

No, no, no, no, NO!

What an absolutely retarded idea. I don't even think Nintendo themselves like it. icon_neutral.gif
