Battle Stadium D.O.N announced

GCN News | For anyone who likes Jump Superstars.
With a lot of the premium DS games having made their way out of Japan, only a few are left behind. One of those games was Jump Superstars, a massive compilation of anime characters crammed into a Smash Bros.-like arena and left to duke it out. The sad thing is that it's actually a damn good game.

While not quite up to the variety of the Jump, Namco Bandai have announced their own console rendition in the form of Battle Stadium D.O.N. The game is meant to offer a new form of combating and the ability to take control of several characters from the Dragon Ball, One Piece and Naruto universes. Given that these correspend with the initials in the game name, we're not expecting any more additions.

The game was revealed in the latest issue of Famitsu and scans are available on the Web. At the moment, there has only been a Japanese release stated for PlayStation 2 and GameCube on July 20th. However, given that the popularity of these series has grown rapidly outside of Japan, there may be a better chance of this seeing a western release.

I'm trying to play Jump Superstars at the moment and there is a big language barrier there, making the game pretty frustrating. It also has tons of Jump characters that haven't been seen in the US and tons of text, and text in images so I'm not surprised it didn't make the transition.

OP, Naruto and Dragonball are much more well known, so maybe this one will make it over? Maybe it won't suck like all the 3d OP games?

There's a good change it will make it to the west since it's only 3 title instead of the 30 odd titles (licensing is an issue).
But is it going to suck...

Licensing is still an issue with this title. Atari has DBZ and One Piece, but D3 holds Naruto. They'd have to come to an agreement first, but given Atari's need for a big hit, I think it may have a better chance than Jump Superstars.

Let's hope. I think this game has potential, and I like One Piece and Dragonball. Jump superstars is rather confusing.
