Zelda delayed yet again

GCN News | Reggie spills the beans.
It's been an agonising wait for what could possibly be the best GameCube game to date, but it looks like that wait just got a little bit longer.

Nintendo marketing man and nerd idol Reggie Fils-Aime revealed today on the SpikeTV show Game Head that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will not be released until "Fall" (September to November). In addition to the delay, Reggie re-interated that the game would still be released on the GameCube, not the Revolution, as is widely speculated.

Expect to see more of Twilight Princess at E3 - its third such trip to Los Angeles.

Australian Gamer made a great joke about the game; It's been delayed so long, it shouldn't be called "Twilight Princess" it should be called "Morning After Princess" instead.

Lame joke..

Another delay, another day..this game better be the best Zelda title of all time.

I saw that delay coming a mile away. I think that time frame would also give us a pretty good idea of when we can expect to get our hands on the Revolution. There is just no way Nintendo would release TP after the Revolution would there? Releasing them together seems like the best bet.

I'm glad that they arent rushing it.

Nah i heard it's being renamed Duke Nukem Forever.

This is not cool.I'm near certain that this has now eclipsed the long delay zelda 64 saw.And that was a long delay.

Oh well, i wouldn't have time to buy it anyway, let alone play it, as i am of course now civ 4's bitch/gimp.

p.s. i am not playing civ 4 atm as it is too hot and the computer crashes. The sun is begining to set though....

Name Joke #3: Perpetual Twilight Princess

On the one hand, this game will surely be amazing. On the other hand, thats a hell of a wait, especially since, like Lahiru said, that probably means we wont see the Rev before then either.

And on the mutant third hand, at least I'll be finished school by the time the game comes out, so it wont be intereferring with my study too much.

Bring on November.

I agree, as i would rather Nintendo delay this game to make it the best playing experience that it can and will be. Perhaps some of you guys would like them to release this game full of bugs then?

Extremely disappointing.

...this better be a good game. you can already buy a gamecube for 70 bucks!!

Blah, it doesn't really matter. As long it comes out then it'll I'll be fine..
(Sensing it won't come out here until 2007)

DAM! What's the bet Nintendo made Reggie tell of the delay, so we wouldn't be less angry. icon_razz.gif

As Lahiru said, the delay wasn't that unexpected. When it got delayed the first time I was VERY shocked and angry, now I'm a little pissed off, but a part of me allways expected it.

And Slapper, Nintendo has stated they are delaying the game (the first time) to add more dungeons and make the game fuller, not becuase it doesn't play well.

Surely this game will make use of the revolution hardware!? Here's my problem with that... Australia usually gets big AAA games fairly fast from the US(Mariokart double dash, MKDS, ACWW are a few which come to mind), but hardware takes a little while. So Imagine if we can play Twilight Princess this November/December and then have to wait untill February/March to replay it utilising the rev. icon_mad.gif

*shakes head*

MKDS & ACWW are both DS games, seeing how DS's region free & we don't need 6 other languages, I'm sure Nintendo can get away by just slapping away the game sticker stating AUS on a US Ver.

As for Mario Kart, that had all the different languages, but I'm sure it wouldn't have took them more then a day or two as I can't really remember there were more then a page of test in the game. The NSTC to PAL shouldn't have took too long either.

I'd disagree with that - In the past couple of years I'd say we've gotten the majority of the major releases pretty damn quickly. And if there was ever a time the phrase 'major release' applied, its with Twilight Princess.

I'm confident we'll get it within a month. More than likely less.

La, I don't think that DS being region free has a lot to do with it. I'm not talking about games coming from Japan to Australia, I'm talking about games coming from the US to Australia, which do not need any translating. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I never though it was too much of a time issue to convert games into PAL instead of NTSC.

Games like AWDS, Kirby CC and Meteos were all avaliable in the US quite a while before being so in Australia, because while being great games, they are not huge sellers.

Like I said, Australia Usually get the bigger games faster. Games which will most likely sell highly such as MKDS/DD, ACWW and most liekly Zelda.

I'm just wondering, Reggie says it's still for Gamecube, but the Revolution itself is still a Gamecube (it has controller ports and accepts the Gamecube discs). Could this mean that TP could be released after the Revolution is out, but just on the Gamecube discs? It makes sense to me, Nintendo could clear the excess Gamecube stock by bundling them TP, while the early adopters can play on their shiny new Revolutions.

Erm, we get screwed when it comes to delays. We still wait for PAL versions which require translations into numerous European languages. I remember the days of the N64 when normal waiting time was about 6 months, and the trend was similar with the Cube. Metroid Prime was some 6 months behind.

The quick releases you're referring to are because the DS games didn't require us to wait for dedicated PAL versions.
I so don't care. If it's a good game, I don't care when I play it.
That's what I'm trying to say, I don't believe that waiting for dedicated PAL versions is the main reason we have to wait. When Nintendo(or other large companies) want to get a game out to Australia from the US, they can, it just needs to be worth their while, like AAA games are.

I know I have been using many DS examples, because to be honost I can't remember much of what was released when and where at exact times for more than a couple of years ago, and DS games are the most current.

IMO releases are getting better here anyway, *Looks at topic title, then read last posts...* We should probably talk about the Zelda delay again. icon_razz.gif

I'm not entirely sure, but I believe both Metroid Prime 2 and RE4 were pretty damn close to their US launch.

Screw the topic.

There's not much to talk about it in this kinda topic anyways.

Some complain, some don't care & some thinks is better that way.

Nintendo know their ****. I'll wait.

Metroid Prime was the only Major 1st (or 2nd) party Gamecube game that missed Christmas in PAL but not the US, and it was only about 3 months later, and had extra content (better AI, tweaked story and graphics). Zelda Four Swords was a year late, and Animal Crossing was about two years late, but they're not as major releases, and are the exceptions to what has actually been an excellent record of quick PAL releases.

GC games that were not delayed much to PAL (most 1- 3 weeks after the US):
Mario Sunshine
Starfox Adevntures
Mario Party 4, 5
Wario World
Resident Evil Zero
Wind Waker
F-Zero GX
1080 Avalanche
Mario Tennis (2 months late)
Donkey Konga
Metroid Prime 2
Paper Mario 2
Pikmin 2
Jungle Beat
Starfox Assault
Resident Evil 4 (about 2 months late)
Mario Superstar Baseball
Mario Dance thingy
Fire Emblem

..and heaps more. Same story with GC games from Activision and Ubisoft.

(see here and here for proof)

Nintendo have actually been brillaint to PAL this gen, and are still the only company that consistantly does proper 50Hz conversions on any console - which is better because it offers a higher resolution than just offering a 60Hz option (and they do that too anyway, as PAL60 with the superiour PAL colour!).

Sony have probably been the worst to PAL - AFAIK no PS2 games have ever been properly convetred to 50Hz, and most 60Hz options run in NTSC colour, which is worse then a PAL60 option. And many, many major games got huge delays (Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3, Shadow of the Colossus etc).

Nintendo made some serious mistakes in PAL territories, but delays were not one of them.

Dude, Resident Evil Zero was released in the states in november and it came out here in February! I know, I had it on preorder.

And i'm know im being picky but Wind Waker was at least 2 months. But the rest is pretty much spot on.

Anyway, someone wake me up when it's out. icon_zzz.gif
