Yoot Saito's Odama - new images

GCN News | Avenge death with pinball.
Nintendo have generously provided some screenshots of the bizarre, upcoming miltary-pinball game, Odama.

Yoot Saito's Odama tells the story of Yamanouchi Kagetora, a young general who discovers that when his soldiers band together – they can overcome even the greatest enemy, which happens to be Genshin – the man who killed his father. Kagetora takes to the battlefield with limited resources, luckily this includes a legendary ball-shaped weapon that is protected by his clan – the Odama. The Odama will bowl down anyone in it’s path – friend or foe – so you must be cautious of which direction the Odama is heading in and move your troops accordingly.

The battlefield is setup not unlike a pinball table, complete with flippers and hazards. Players control the flippers with the L + R buttons and order your troops with verbal commands via the Gamceube microphone. You can instruct your fellow soldiers to charge the enemy, defend positions and seize the enemy gates, amongst other orders. Be careful though, giving out too many orders may make your troops become fatigued or lose confidence in your leadership, so don’t get too power-happy.

Yoot Saito's Odama is set for a March 31st release for Europe – no other PAL dates have been set, yet.

It's certainly looking very intriguing, but what a shame that Japan is the only remaining market where GameCube software is still shifting in decent numbers. I have a nasty feeling this is going to be sorely overlooked in the US and PAL regions, simply due to the declining interest in the Cube. icon_sad.gif
