RUMOUR: Rev controller to be compatible with Twilight Princess?

GCN News | So says NGC Magazine.
While Nintendo quickly crushed the rumours suggesting that the Gamecube swansong, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, would instead take up residence on the Revolution console, it seems that the rumours had some sort of merit.

British magazine, erm, NGC Magazine, are reporting that the radical new Revolution controller will in fact be compatible with Twilight Princess. The game will still be a GCN game through and through, but insert it into the Revolution and things will get a bit different.

"When you insert the disc into your Revolution, you'll be given the option to use the Revolution's controller, with all the advantages this will bring," the article claims.

...But what are those advantages? Being able to use the baton to control a sword? Some hidden levels? The ability to fight the evil delay monster? Only time will tell.

Eurogamer are speculating that the delay from late 2005 to April 2006 may well of been because of this tinkering - we really, really hope not.

Nintendo haven't confirmed this, but NGC Magazine are generally a fairly reliable source. If Nintendo acknowledge or deny this, be assured we'll let you know.

Yeah, I heard about this also. Forgert where though. I can't really say if this is or a bad thing though. Anyone?

Interesting, could be good as long as it still plays fine on the GC with a normal control and there is not too much rev exclusive content.

Does that mean the Rev and Zelda will come out at the same time?

Possibly although we'd have to wait till E3 for any firm information.

Looks good though, get TP for GCN play through it normally then play with the Revolution, should be sweet.

I've been saying this for awhile that I believe Nintendo will use TP as a selling point for the Rev.

Mainly because I don't think they will have enough content for the launch.

NGC reported that a little while ago actually, don't know why reporting it now. But, I'd imagine, if done correctly, the game could work as an excellent marketing tool for the new console - if it is indeed being released on the Revolution.

The heading for this article is a bit long and makes it end in 'twilight prince'....

Maybe you should replace the word 'controller' with baton.....or changed the word 'compatible' with 'used'......

Or you could just not give a toss.Either way. It's all good.

I'll take the latter, thanks.

What happened to Twilight Princess? Did they scrap that game or something? Twilight Prince probably is a better game though, Jibbs. I mean, less chicks 'n stuff.

Heh, I liked the part where they alluded that a five month delay could be the fault of a feature which could be implemented in one icon_wink.gif

^yeah i was thinking the same thing. i dont care about the controller, just release it already.

Doing this would make sense - which is exactly why I have no idea if Nintendo will do it.

Surely the delay was not for this.

One? As in one month? Where'd you get a number like that? IMO, that's being overly optomistic.

Good and bad news I think.

Good:
We get to try out at rev baton on one of the best games ever made (hopes)

Like thebigm said, it would increase the replay value. However this wouldn't be as true if the rev and TP were released within say a month of each other.

The Rev having a very strong launch title

The Bad:
This game wasn't designed from the get go to use the baton, so it allmost definatly won't use the baton to its full potential.

If controlling the game by using the baton is only average, then there will be a lot of 5h!t thrown at the rev from people who have tried the rev. but don't like the controller. Even if this is only because they played one game that doesn't use the controller to its full extent.

It could be a cop out from trying to release a new rev. only zelda game.

I am not sure what to think on this rumour, so I'm not going to say anything. I will play the 'wait and see' game instead. icon_smile.gif

It'd be cool if this was true. But then I'll start wanting Zelda for the revolution if it winds up being really good.

I dare say it will only be for mini-games, like archery and fishing.

I doubt Twilight Princess is going to usurp Link's Awakening as the best Zelda ever. But here's hoping the baton doesn't seem like a tacked on gimmick, and really adds to the experience.

thats personal preference. OoT or WW are better than LA imo. from the gameplay movies and screenshots the game looks pretty damn good to me. i always wanted a zelda that looked a bit more real instead of cartoony. i was so disappointed with the cell-shading of WW but it's a brilliant game.

please bring back the fishing pond with rev controller capabilities. i would die if this was brought back (in a good way, not the yucky way)!

There is no 'way' with death. It's just death, simple as that. You wouldn't know it though, if you died. icon_razz.gif

Actually, in my controversial opinion, Wind Waker's art style/graphics completely beat the art style/graphics of Twilight Princess. Sure, I haven't played TP, so I don't know for sure, but tWW looked fantastic.

A quote from Nintendo reps from Eurogamer:

"The article in the January edition of NGC Magazine is pure speculation.
Nintendo have made no new announcements regarding The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. We can however confirm that the game is still in development and that it will launch on Nintendo GameCube in 2006."

Nintendo has dismissed claims that long awaited GameCube title The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will be playable on the Revolution using the wacky old "freestyle" controller.

NGC magazine was responsible for starting the rumours with an article which read: "Twilight Princess will be playable on the forthcoming Revolution using the upcoming console's unique controller.

"When you insert the disc into your Revolution, you'll be given the option to use the Revolution's controller, with all the advantages this will bring."

But that's not the case, Nintendo told Eurogamer: "The article in the January edition of NGC Magazine is pure speculation.

"Nintendo have made no new announcements regarding The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. We can however confirm that the game is still in development and that it will launch on Nintendo GameCube in 2006."

So, a bit of wishful thinking there, according to Nintendo. But maybe there will turn out to be a grain of truth in the speculation eventually, you never know...
