The NGC iteration will boast "incredible" new features, more characters, improved fighting action, original Japanese voiceovers and "an open-ended way to relive the DBZ story." Whether that's some sort of cryptic implication that there will actually be made substantial changes to the gameplay or just generic publicity drivel is too hard for us to call; make up your own minds about it.
Martin Spiess, Atari Europe's Senior Vice President of Marketing is enthusiastic: "Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 was extremely successful on the Playstation 2 and we have upped the ante by producing an even better version for the GameCube with additional character costumes, unlockable stages, two extra levels of difficulty and even more skills added, making this a thrilling and challenging fighting game."
The unlockable stages Spiess is mentioning include islands, city streets, the Great Kai planet and the World Tournament, and "Sparkling", "World's Mightiest Warrior Certificate" and "World Tournament Cell Game Rule" are the names of some of the added skills.
Lastly, the title will contain various multiplayer modes, such as Versus, Tournament and Training.
GameCube, March 2005.
