Nintendo reveal late-2004 software line-up

GCN News | Every Gamecube and GBA title coming to Europe between now and Christmas: from Metroid Prime 2 to Paper Mario 2, we have the complete list inside.
Contrary to what many of their actions suggest, it turns out that Nintendo does know about the place they call Europe. And in order to prove their breathtaking awareness of gaming's second largest market, the big 'N' today unveiled the 80-odd titles that European Gamecube and GBA owners can expect to be playing for the remainder of this calendar year. As usual with such lists, it's a mix of pleasant surprises (Paper Mario 2), notable absences (Star Fox, where art thou?) and tedious licences (Who wants to be a Millionaire 2, step forward. Actually, don't).

Sticking to the 'pleasant' aspect for now, there seems to be a whole host of games that deserve to damage our wallets in the next four or five months. Top of that pile should be Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, though PALGN would happily predict that picking up Wario Ware, Inc.: Mega Party Game$, Pikmin 2, Donkey Konga, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Mario Golf Advance Tour, Paper Mario 2, The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap or - at last - the long-long-long-delayed Animal Crossing (provided you weren't one of the thousands who simply picked up an NTSC or PAL copy of the game) would be a worthy investment.

Alas, Star Fox and The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures (both on Gamecube) are the most disappointing absentees, though maybe it'll do each title good to steer clear of the Christmas stampede.

It's certainly an eclectic inventory of titles as well, and there's a good number of titles there (mostly Nintendo's own as far as PALGN can see) that will undoubtedly attract critical acclaim. Whether they'll reap the commercial rewards they deserve remains to be seen however, and with the Xbox having Halo 2 in the wings for November, and the PS2 also boasting a guaranteed top-seller in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in October, it'll be fascinating to see whether Nintendo's own line-up can produce a rival to those titles.

The complete list is below in it's entirety, complete with dates and publishers, and PALGN has even highlighted the key titles in a lovely shade of red. We're too good to you, you know.

Are we 100% sure on the Burnout 3 release date? I believe the game hits Sep. 10 in the states. Are we getting it before them?

America's date keeps changing with each "dates revised" article IGN does so take our date for now as I believe it is true. 4 different sources have said that it is releasing on the date we have, so I'm gonna believe it. icon_smile.gif

Nope, 2005. Early 2005 for Japan, I think.

Mm, I liked the Wind Waker style a lot, but I won't mind having another realistic one. icon_kero.gif

<PeterGriffin> He's always playing that awful FFXI game
<PeterGriffin> Maybe when Madden 05 is released and he'll play something else I'll go over regularly again, but I can't see myself hanging out if all I get to do is watch him kill crabs
<Jakeoff> do MMORPGS even qualify as games?
<PeterGriffin> No, they're more like a treadmills that makes you fatter

I rest my case. icon_razz.gif
