The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age - 17 New Screenshots

GCN News | EA gives us a look at their upcoming Middle Earth installment.
EA’s next anticipated Lord of the Rings title, The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age, will send gamers on a quest that will span across the events from all three films and will also let you interact with more than a few familiar faces along the way. The upcoming RPG turn based game will be the third installment from EA’s Lord of the Rings licence, and hopefully not their last.

Today Electronic Arts released seventeen hi-res screenshots of the upcoming release of The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age, with each looking very incredible. If you don’t believe us get into our media panel to check them out.

The game is currently set for an early December 2004 release in America, currently no PAL release date has been set. PALGN will continue to keep you updated throughout the led up to it’s release.

looks nice, but this has the potential to go bad in so many ways...

the balrog for example... looks pretty, but lets not forget not even Gandalf could fight one without dying...

oops, should have had a spoiler warning i guess, but meh... you've had 50 years to read the damn books...

personally i'd rather they didn't mess with the stories...

i know concurrent events happened, but a first or second age game would interest me more...
EDIT: just remembered that EA hold the movie rights, not book rights so 1st/2nd age games are not likely from them...

Ya know, I wouldn't consider Gandalf had died at the hands of the Balrog, just got a little unlucky and got involved in all the tedious mucking around in other plains of existance. S*** Happens I suppose.
