Australian sales charts, week ending 16/12/07

PALGN News | Up and down.
Given that all the big Christmas games are already up on shelves, it's no surprise to see a lack of new entrants into the charts this week. Instead of new games, we have a whole lot of shuffling. It starts at the top - The Simpsons Game on the PlayStation 2 has taken the number one slot, pushing former champion Super Mario Galaxy down to a lowly second place. Surprise Nintendo DS hit Drawn to Life has re-entered with a vengeance, storming up the charts to take third. Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games suffered as a result, dropping down two spots from last week to close at four. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare continued its good progress after rejoining the charts last week, pushing up to fifth spot.

Need for Speed: Pro Street is at six, surprisingly low given the past success of the series. The Simpsons Game for the DS could not replicate the success of its PS2 big brother, falling down three spots to finish at seven. Former champion WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 continued its downward slide, dropping another two spots to close for the week in eighth place. Xbox 360 heavyweight Halo 3 has managed to join the charts in ninth. Just sneaking into the charts in tenth place is Big Brain Academy for the Wii, since it is seemingly impossible for a week to go by without there being at least one Brain game in the top ten.

The charts are updated weekly and are provided by the beautiful and lovely people at GfK.

Wow - the Wii actually looks like a real console based on those sales rankings! 5 of the 10 games are "serious" games and only 2 are minigame collections ...
