Dawn of War expands again

PALGN News | Battle now expected to rage well past lunchtime.
THQ have announced Soulstorm, another standalone expansion for their Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War RTS game.

No longer happy to keep the carnage on a single planet, Soulstorm will let you spread all kinds of splattery heck right across a whole star system. There will be two new races, including the Dark Eldar, which now takes the total number of playable races to a slightly insane nine. Presumably, though, you'll have to own all the previous expansions to get the full complement of races.

Furthermore, multiplayer will now include medals. According to Tarrnie Williams, General Manager of Relic Entertainment, “Allowing gamers to play nine unique races, introducing air units and providing multiplayer achievements for the first time creates a tremendous amount of new and challenging strategic gameplay for all players.”

No screenshots as yet, but we will follow the progress of W40K: Soulstorm with keen interest.

Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War - Soulstorm is due on the PC in Q2, 2008.

nice.

it seems a little odd to have a title supported for so long, it's almost rivaling The Sims for expansion packs, but i'm glad they're doing it through releasing both races, and campaigns/content.

having said that, i would also be perfectly happy if they released an xpac that was solely races, and introduced the remaining WH40K races as playable.

Nice I managed to get into the top 50 players before balanced ruined it. I'll reinstall if they fix it all up.

Just make IG more powerful and I'll buy it =). Hopefully the main dev team is working on DoW2.

Eh, they're just weak at game start, at the end theyre like a ranged orks and orks have some decent time to pwn any race in the game. The real motivation should be if I noseplant the planes into ground troops will they be smushed good? icon_biggrin.gif
