Updated Australian release list, 20/08/07

Goddamit....Stranglehold = 6th September for Xbox 360 and 20th September for Ps3! Looks like i'm once again forced to buy the 360 version of a game because of the Ps3's hopeless release schedule when I would really really prefer the Ps3 version!! Sony better clean up frickin' acts and start getting some games out soon! That whole release schedule is useless and remains so right into next year (yes LAIR will be crap).

Chances are I will have to end up buying Blacksite: Area 51, Call of Duty 4, Army of Two, Turok and GTA4 again because of the Ps3's pathetic ability to release games on time (yea I know the games have release dates the same as the 360 versions....but so did Stranglehold once upon a time). If these delayed releases keep up the Ps3 may aswell be dead for me because I buy games on the release day and if that version is always going to be the 360 version then my Ps3 is going to continue gathering dust! It's imperative these games come out on time...Sony...developers WHOEVER.....release those multiplatform games on the same day you morons! This is a real bummber cuz I wanted the HD version of Hard Boiled and also it might not be dubbed (my hopeless copy is dubbed).

Even the frickin Wii has a game i'm getting!! 20TH September Super Paper Mario.

Also 25th September is Halo 3 time? Wow that's pretty early. I have a feeling it'll get delayed....but I couldn't really care less. In 4 days it's time to get Bioshocked and this will be the best game I will ever play....so I might aswell quit gaming after that anyways.

Yea the UFO games were cool but Bioshock is really really unique in that it actually contains elements that pretty much make up my perfect game, let me explain: I like my games to be action based, I would prefer if they were shooters as opposed to some sort of melee combat, 3rd person or 1st person view...either one is ok but I feel that more immersion comes from 1st person but that would really need to be nailed properly (as is the case for Bioshock), horror themes, underwater setting, an action game where you level up is exactly the type of action game I prefer, shops/money...just having the choice of being able to buy equipment aswell, modifiable weapons (since Turok 1 i've been obsessed with weapons in games), crazed lunatics (I love people off their heads in games because it usually leads to great voice acting and usually keeps the tension in the game up) awesome graphics and sound, atmosphere heavy games, back story....I love it in games when there is some sort of history of the stuff you stumble upon, like one of the reasons Resident Evil is my fave series is because you always find corpses with a note detailing what lead them to become a corpse etc....I just love this sorta stuff....I love seeing the aftermath of things gone wrong more than I like being the one causing all the trouble (if that makes sense)....just something about exploring something with some history just makes it that much more immersive and worthwhile, the 1920's - 1960's propaganda...I just LOVE the look of artwork/drawings from these years because it has this eerieness about it....like there were funny little cartoons the nazi's used and these while looking very kiddy like were very very adult in nature, kinda like nursery rhymes and fairy tales also from around those ages, I dunno it's hard to explain....it's like innocent yet evil at the same time (e.g oldskool Mickey Mouse cartoon in black and white...I prefer those to the newer better drawn colour versions and I really can't explain why...but it's that eerie/innocence about it that attracts me) also the black and white look gave it that simplicity and in no way were the drawings bad....cartoons are cartoons, and imo there is a lot to be said for simple little drawings as opposed to really detailed work and for little posters and instructions etc the simple drawings are much more effective.

Sorry this is getting really off topic but Bioshock is unique for me because quite honestly it's based in Rapture. Rapture is most perfect setting for a video game for me because everything about it, the story and the games actual mechanics is what i've been waiting for this whole time....and yes lots and lots of games have been able to include some of these features but this is the first time i've seen it all in one polished package!

So yea I have a good feeling that neither Irrational (2K) or even Capcom will be able to repeat something like this....because quite honestly it's like one HUGE fluke that they've made my perfect game.

^ Well i'm actually doing some research now....it looks like Play-Asia get it in September, they don't say which day but they usually get it a couple of days early and they ship it out pretty quick so if I play my cards right I might even be able to get the Ps3 edition from them around the same time I would have to buy the 360 version. I also want to find out which version is superior cuz that's most important but it's kinda impossible at the moment because it hasn't been reviewed.

In any case I need a HD non-dubbed version of Hard Boiled so maybe just buy the Ps3 version, wait for some reviews and keep my fingers crossed that the Ps3 and 360 versions are identical. If not i'll buy a 2nd 360 version (multiplayer also looks awesome which is another reason I wouldn't mind the 360 version).

The movie and game are apparantly on the same disc so to region code one would be to region code the other.
